So, I just found out that 3D Realms has bought Xfire.
Not knowing what 3D Realms will do with Xfire, I thought I would post some possible alternatives to Xfire.
Now, this is not a thread to migrate from Xfire. It is just alternative softwares

Ok. in spite of news about 3D Realms, no one really knows who bought Xfire. Speculation is raging on Xfire forums.

So this post is to tell people to get gsc or the other one?

I think we already have enough with xfire and steam. Steam is the most use. All the game we play are support by steam and nothing else.

I agree with Jo, GSC was very slow and i didn't like it at all, Steam and TS is all we need for a game client :D and communication.

We don't use xfire anyway. We use it to send files. So if it close...Well it close lol.

Steam is the most popular one. As I said, it support all our games.

between Xfire and Steam, I think Xfire is the most popular. And from what I see, many Xfire users are on Steam.
At the same time, on Xfire forums people flame Steam, and on Steam users flame Xfire.

I use to be a xfire user. But since I buy my game from steam, I don't need xfire anymore.

Due to recent "bad customer service" experience I had with Steam I think it would be nice to have some sort of alternative.  Moving forward I personally am going to try to get as few games as possible from Steam.  I purchased MoH 2010 from GameStop and I'm hoping it doesn't sync with Steam quite frankly.

Xfire has been pretty convenient when it comes to joining your friends in CoD4.  My 2 cents.
